ARPA-H will be tasked with identifying transformative and broadly-accessible solutions, to the most challenging health care problems: from cancer, Alzheimer’s and AIDS to equitable health care delivery and cost containment. The Coalition for Health Advancement and Research in Texas (CHART) is made up of representatives of Texas’ bioscience, medical, technology, and healthcare institutions that believe ARPA-H should be fully supported and located in Texas and are ready to help achieve that end.
Texas is Ready Right Now
ARPA-H office space, technical assistance and security support are immediately available for ARPA-H at each of Texas’ major cities. One example is the opportunity to house ARPA-H on the new TMC3 campus adjacent to the largest medical center in the world, Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston. TMC is currently expanding to include TMC3, which will be the most advanced translational research campus in the country. The 37-acre TMC3 campus is under construction and will house numerous academic health centers, life science and health care partners adjacent to TMC. With its own state-of-the-art building on the TMC3 campus, ARPAH will be situated in brand-new office space in the most diverse U.S. city, in the most diverse state in the country.
Similarly, Dallas has immediately available office space for ARPA-H in the newly built Pegasus Park, a $100 million, 23-acre campus. The largest, private real estate impact investment focused on translational health research and innovation in the country, funded by private and philanthropic capital.
San Antonio is home to the largest military health complex in the U.S., the largest cybersecurity workforce outside of Washington D.C., and the Texas Biomedical Research Institute, the only BSL-4 lab co-located with a national primate center. Office space for ARPA-H is also available immediately in San Antonio.
Austin’s entrepreneurial advances, particularly in revolutionary technologies, and its large skilled workforce will foster the culture of networking and exchange of ideas critical for accelerating health care solutions. It too has office space immediately available for ARPA-H, located in proximity to innovation centers near Austin’s healthcare-related research institutions. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin are united and committed to the success of ARPA-H.
Why Texas?
Why Texas?
“The creation of this agency and its potential to unleash the innovations of our nation’s science and biotechnology communities and to revolutionize how we prevent, treat, and cure a range of diseases is a milestone moment in U.S. and global public health. We now look forward to supporting the Senate’s deliberations on this critical legislation and to making the case to locate ARPA-H in Texas because of our resources, infrastructure, and diversity.”

Texas Demographics Signal the Future
Innovation drives discoveries, but health care transformation must keep patients at its core.
Texas has the most diverse population in the country, growing three times more rapidly than any other state over the past 20 years. As one of the first majority/minority states, Texas’ population reflects the future face of the U.S. Not only does the state’s workforce mirror the diversity necessary to attract talent and drive new pathways for innovation, but our demographics also make Texas the ideal location for patient-centered research. Clinical trials, health equity initiatives, and accessibility.
